Time Management among Head Nurses at Mansoura University Hospitals

Abstract
Time management is simply self-management. It is an asset of related common sense skills that help head nurses to optimal use of the available time effectively to ensure quality patient care and productivity. Aim of the study is to identify time management among head nurses.
Methods: The study was conducted in all medical and surgical patient care units at Mansoura University Hospitals namely: Main University Hospital, Emergency Hospital and Medical Specialized Hospital. All head nurses working in these patient care units and available at the time of data collection were included in the study [n=44 head nurses]. The tool consists of four parts: Demographic characteristics of the head nurses, Time Management Assessment Questionnaire, Delegation Scale and Time Waster Format.
Results: Finding showed that the majority of the head nurses at Mansoura University Hospital sometimes use time management skill but, they rarely delegate their duties to their subordinates. While, almost half of them have time wasters during work.
Conclusion: The staff development programs should be provided to head nurses with emphasis on time management skills.
