Impact of Assessment Guide and Oral Care On Incidence of Stomatitis and Life Style in Adult and Child Receiving Chemotherapy

Abstract
The primary oral complications of cancer are poor oral hygiene, infection, stomatitis ulcer, and dry mouth and taste alternation. Thus increased attention must be paid to oral care throughout the illness and especially as the patient general condition worsens. Stomatitis has its impact on the patient life style and the status of the mouth greatly influences the patient nutritional status, level of comfort, ability to communicate and in patient compliance to treatment. The aims of this study were [a] assess oral cavity by using WCCNR [b]apply routine daily oral care American Dental Association Guidelines [c) determine the effect of using the WCCNR assessment and the routine daily care on incidence of stomatitis. [d) evaluate the impact of stomatitis on the quality of life . The study was conducted on 30 patients diagnosed as cancer patients treated with chemotherapy. Findings revealed a significant differences between the oral status in the assessment before and after first intervention, also between after first intervention and second intervention. It has been found that stomatitis has its effect on the life style.
