Abstract
Apart from the clinical severity of affected area, psoriasis can have a profound impact on patients` quality of life. The correlation between quality of life, as measured by Dermatology Quality of Life scale (DQOLS) and the clinical severity of psoriasis, as measured by Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI), before and after, one month of treatment was investigated. One hundred sixty eight moderate to severe psoriasis patients were investigated for the severity of the disease and interviewed for completing DQOL questionnaire. Results revealed that the correlations between both measures were not always significant. It is suggested that both measures of health should be considered or a more holistic approach, which takes into account both clinical and psychological measurements, such as Salford Psoriasis Index (SPI), should be used when assessing the severity of psoriasis.
