Abstract
Infections are the major contributor to the heavy morbidity and mortality experienced by patients in intensive care units. A significant portion of these infections may be preventable with the use of basic infection control practice. The nurse has a vital fundamental role to play involving a wide range of activities in prevention and management of blood-borne diseases. Thus the aimed to determine factors affecting nurses' practice related to universal infection control precaution in Haemodialysis unit of Moubark university Hospital Tanta. The sample comprised [24] nurses who were responsible for Haemodialysis procedure during the study period in the morning & afternoon shifts. Although nurses were able to identify the different item of universal precautions, the majority of them was not knowledgeable in some areas. Also findings shows that the nurses' practice of universal precautions was low in general and several factors affecting the efficiency of nurses' practice of universal infection control precautions, some of them are related to the hospital and others to the nurses themselves.
